The Footy Almanac Podcast – Episode 14

In Episode 14 of The Footy Almanac Podcast, Warwick Green (@_WarwickGreen) joins Matty Q  (who really should give joining Twitter some thought) J.T.H (@ratherbeatlunch) and Stone Cold Steve Baker (@SteveBakewood) to talk about his latest book WALK TALL – A younger readers’ edition of Jim Stynes’ biography, My Journey.

John Harms and Matty Q, chatting with Warwick Green

Warwick talks about his relationship with Big Jim – which dates back to when a pale, spindly kid with a “weird accent” met a budding St Kilda under 19s ruckman with a love of surfing, music and good times at Teachers College in Melbourne’s 1980s – and gives some insights into not just a Melbourne Football Club legend, but a bona-fide legend of Australian rules footy.

We also yarn with Warwick about his days playing for St Kilda in the VFL and Dandenong in the VFA. Given his extensive experience as an editor and writer with both Fairfax and News Limited, we ask the big fella what impacts things like social media and the public’s thirst for news on sports stars beyond the playing fields have had on what makes it into the pages of our daily newspapers.
